Vauxhall’s British Touring Car Team, VX Racing, have taken the ‘triple crown’ by winning all three championship titles available in a car developed using Autodesk Inventor.
Following the closing round of the HiQ British Touring Car Championship (BTTC) at Brands Hatch the cars designed, engineered and built by Triple Eight Race Engineering topped the driver, team and manufacturer's tables. Triple Eight Race Engineering was founded twelve years ago to design, build and race the Super Touring Vectra on behalf of Vauxhall Motors.
The design team state that by producing digital prototypes in Inventor it enabled them to visualise, simulate and analyse their ideas before they were made real. "This enables us to work creatively – but faster than if we were using a traditional solution," said Kevin Berry, Triple Eight’s engineering director. "Plus, it gives us the flexibility to model conceptually and trial different scenarios early in the development process."
The team implemented Inventor and Autodesk Productstream, an incremental data management solution to ensure data was kept securely, but easy to find and access. "We're a small company that thrives on our responsiveness," added Berry. "Inventor ensures we can act quickly and smoothly – to give us the winning edge."
