Engineering firm Wykes has taken their digital design into 64-bit, changing their software to suit following their own benchmarking tests.
Following receipt of a major order for a process plant, the Northamptonshire based engineering firm settled on Autodesk Inventor for the running of large models on their new hardware. Aiming to utilise their systems fully, the firm ran their own tests with the assistance of their CAD supplier Micro Concepts, taking into account the comments of their own engineers.
"Our evaluation was led by the engineers actually using the software on a daily basis," said Wykes operations manager Peter Bense. "As you would expect, their main concerns were stability, speed and ease of use.
"We are now looking to extend our computer aided engineering facilities further using software which can interface directly with the Inventor system."
